“Niicugnituliit, maligtaqutetulit, calirpatulit-llu yuuluaqatuut. Those who listen and follow instruction and continue to work hard, live prosperous lives.” Dr. Paul John Calcricaraq, Bethel , Alaska. 2018.
I remember roaming the halls in the hospital at Bethel as a kid and just admiring the artwork on the walls. It was like our town art museum. What a surreal experience to have my art now displayed at the Dr. Paul John Calcricaraq hospital in Bethel. It is such an honor.
‘For the Love of Salmon’ Bristol Bay School. Naknek, Alaska. 2023.
My idea for this mural was to integrate as many world languages as possible for word ‘salmon’ to show the impact this wonderful resource has on this planet. In connecting world languages I hope to show commonality with this precious resource and demonstrate to students how important it is that we protect and care for our waters and land that provide for us.
